seeking a SQL Database Administrator to manage and optimize our databases.  We are looking for an energetic engineer interested in working on an Agile development team with a proven track record performing all aspects of commercial software development in a SaaS environment.  
  • Work with clients, peers and management in a highly visible, mission critical environment.
  • Evaluate Microsoft technology, security updates, hot fixes, upgrades and version releases to ensure architecture stability.
  • Configure and manage Microsoft's SQL Server 2008/2012/2014, demonstrating how these technologies may be leveraged to positively impact the architecture's overall design, security, availability and stability.
  • Evaluate, develop and integrate value-add applications to meet new requirements. 
  • Provide troubleshooting of database instances and OS level support in a consolidated SQL Server environment leveraging a wide-array of configurations, including local and multi-site failover clustering and Hyper-V virtualization.
  • Demonstrate ability to analyze resource bottlenecks and provide solutions that add capacity and alleviate system pressure.
  • Provide database performance and scalability recommendations and strategies to application owners.
  • Install, upgrade and administer Microsoft SQL Server database engine, Integration Services (SSIS), Reporting Services (SSRS), and Analysis Services (SSAS).
  • Provide architectural guidance to improve database operations and monitoring.
  • Implement and maintain security, backup and disaster recovery strategies for OS and databases..
  • 5+ years’ administration experience using Microsoft SQL Server
  • Extensive administrative experience in Windows Server 2008/2012 and SQL Server 2014/2016 - required
  • Experience performance-tuning SQL queries and database processes.
  • Experience in T-SQL, PowerShell, Batch scripting
  • Familiarity with SQL monitoring tools such as New Relic, SQL Sentry
  • Experience designing and implementing disaster recovery strategies for Microsoft SQL ServerExperience designing and implementing high-availability solutions like clustering, always-on availability groups, log shipping, and mirroring
  • The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
Duties and Responsibilities
SA Engineering and Provisioning
  • Perform daily maintenance including back-ups, index maintenance, and drive-space management.
  • Design and implement disaster recovery solutions for SQL.
  • Install and configure support systems such as infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications.
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
  • Contribute to and maintain system standards.
  • Participate in database design and planning meetings with development and infrastructure teams.
Operations and Support
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
  • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media.
  • Perform regular log truncation as necessary.
  • Assist in setting database development standards, policies, and procedure documentation.
  • Act as Tier 2/3 support for production database issues.
  • Performance problem identification and resolution assistance.
  • Work closely with development, and infrastructure teams for release management, operational management and performance tuning.
  • Upgrade and configure system software that supports infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications per project or operational needs.
  • Monitor and maintain disaster recovery topologies to include log shipping and AlwaysOn Availability Groups.
  • Perform SQL Server installations, upgrades, migrations, and patching.
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.  Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
  • Configure, monitor, and maintain Windows Failover Clusters in a dual data-center environment.
