JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for providing vision, guidance, and technical
expertise as part of the development team . This individual will
provide technical leadership to engineers, and will work with a team of developers, product
managers, clients, administrators, and testers to develop software systems. This individual
will drive for results delivering quality software within budgeted time. The Senior Software
Engineer will demonstrate a passion for innovation staying apprised of emerging technologies
and drive to integrate these innovations into company products and into the practices of the
development team company-wide.
 
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Roles and Responsibilities of the Sr. Software Engineer include but are not limited to:
  • Interacts with other departments and internal users as part of development of software and systems.
  • Serves as architectural lead; lead development of new or revised systems and electronic products.
  • Provides leadership and direction to engineers developing tools and processes to improve continuous integration and automated testing .
  • Contributes innovative and visionary designs for complex software systems; Guides teams in developing effective processes and best practices.
  • Participates in technical design reviews, code reviews, and some pair programming.
  • Works with users to resolve technical issues and to provide implementation support.
  • Contributes to development of company objectives and principles, and achieves goals in creative and effective ways.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed.
 
DEMONSTRATE SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
  • Expert working knowledge and understanding of application development with micro services.
  • Expert working knowledge of several MVC frameworks.
  • Expert level experience with RESTful services on a variety of platforms.
  • Expert level experience with integration of multiple systems using technologies like service bus and message queues.
  • Passion for building systems that build things.
  • Expert working knowledge of automated testing tools and methodologies, unit testing frameworks and test driven development methodologies.
  • Expert ability to define software requirements, identify technical gaps and risks.
  • Extensive experience creating software development estimates.
  • Experience developing and appreciation of continuous integration/deployment/automation using tools like Jenkins, Go, Grunt, or others.
  • Extensive experience working with source control systems (Git strongly preferred).
  • Experience developing, integrating, and testing Content Management Systems.
  • Experience with NoSQL and/or graph databases.
  • Significant experience as Development Lead/Architect working with multiple engineering teams and projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, to organize, and to coordinate a high volume of information.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and interviewing skills.
  • Understanding of and ability to communicate the business and strategic impact of technical decisions.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or equivalent work experience and 10 years in a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years’ experience in an object-oriented language and use of common software design patterns.
  • 5+ years’ experience developing automation and tools to facilitate continuous integration of software development efforts.
  • 5+ years’ experience in the implementation, development, and support of Enterprise Content Management.
  • 5+ years’ experience with XML and related technologies.
  • Experience with a wide variety of development platforms is strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
